This page will demonstrate the use of accessible tables. Accessible tables are used for conveying important information, typically involving a certain quantity of something. In this case, it should be easy to read and such, which is why this data table will represent some of my favorite website to visit, and they will be ranked on accessibility based on my experiences.
In the last page focusing on tables, I created a table based on information given using a previous basis from an older lab.
| Website Chosen | Color Contrast | Text Size | Compatibility with Phones | General Accessibility | Dark Pattern Levels | Total Score (out of 40) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| YouTube | 10 | 8 | 10 | 9 | 1 | 37 |
| SoundCloud | 7 | 5 | 7 | 6 | 4 | 25 |
| Wikipedia | 10 | 8 | 10 | 9 | 5 | 37 |
| Amazon | 9 | 8 | 10 | 9 | 2 | 36 |
| 10 | 6 | 5 | 7 | 2 | 28 | |
A rank of 0-2 represents being virtually unusable, 3-5 being decent, 6-8 being good, and 9-10 being totally accessible.
In the case of "Dark Pattern" levels, the lower the number, the better. 0 would be a perfect score, and a 10 would be a bad score.
Dark Pattern points will not be counted towards the final score as well to avoid inconsistency.
Dark Pattern numbers are more meant to represent a warning for people who have high anxiety like me in terms of visiting these sites.
I personally dislike websites that contain free comment threads or pages that you can comment on or edit without needing an account, because it spikes up my anxiety, which is why websites like Soundcloud and especially Wikipedia have higher Dark Pattern Levels.
Links for each respective website are included in the "Website Chosen" tabs.
For more information on accessibility issues with Twitter, look for the article, titled: "Accessability and Usability Issues with Twitter", on the index page, under CMWEB150 Content, in the collapsible tab titled "Essays/Writing".
All pages documented in this table were tested with the NVDA screen reader tool for those who require screen readers if they have low vision, like me.
